Every morning
I would wake with the fear
Of this day being our last…
I could feel the beating of your heart
And see the rise and fall of every breath…
I would lay as still
As I could
For fear I would wake you
And end our perfect
Piece of the world…
I spent those
Early morning hours
Memorizing every piece
Of you.
One morning,
At some point
During my intense study,
You woke,
pulled me close,
And asked me
“can we stay like this forever”
“can you love me that long”
And with a deep sigh
Came an unexpected answer…
“longer…”

kind...
I think my faith in men being kind has been restored.
I never thought they could be so sweet.
It was a simple gesture... he found a ring (one of those little dentist rings)
a pink ring in the grass.
He gave it to me ... i wore it all day yesterday,
half way on my pinkie (it was too small for my hand)
and now it hangs on a string in my room
so i can see it when i need some kindness in my life

Clearly...
I saw you clearly for the first time today
You were standing in the kitchen
Pouring wine for dinner
You were humming some familiar song
And I watched you sway in time
To the song playing in your mind
And I saw you…
You turned towards me, two glasses in your hands
You handed one to me
And as I took the glass, our hands touched
I heard you whisper my name
As our hands lingered longer than necessary
And I saw you clearly
And for the first time,
I felt someone truly saw me
You were standing in the kitchen
Pouring wine for dinner
You were humming some familiar song
